About AI Rumour Watch

AI Rumour Watch is an independent editorial project focused on analysing, verifying, and debunking claims about artificial intelligence as they circulate online.

The aim is simple: slow claims down, test them against technical reality, and separate what is demonstrably true from what is speculative, exaggerated, or simply wrong.


Who “we” are

AI Rumour Watch is run by a single editor and analyst, not a newsroom or corporate-backed organisation.
When this site refers to “we,” it means the publication and its editorial voice — not a large team, marketing operation, or institutional body.

The project is deliberately small, independent, and non-commercial in its analysis.


Why this exists

Widespread interest in AI has been driven as much by publicity and hype as by genuine technical progress. As coverage intensified, it became increasingly difficult to separate what was demonstrably true from what was speculative, exaggerated, or simply incorrect.

This project began as an attempt to make sense of the gap between how AI systems were being discussed publicly and how they appeared to work in practice.

The focus is on evidence, mechanisms, and incentives, rather than optimism or fear.


How this work is done

Claims covered here are examined using:

  • primary technical documentation where available
  • published research and official disclosures
  • direct analysis of how rumours emerge, spread, and mutate

The focus is not on predictions, leaks, or insider speculation. It is on whether a claim survives basic scrutiny once marketing language, hype cycles, and social amplification are stripped away.


What this site is — and isn’t

AI Rumour Watch is not:

  • a hype channel
  • a product review site
  • a futurist blog
  • a platform for “inside sources” or anonymous leaks

It does not attempt to forecast breakthroughs or promote particular companies, models, or personalities.

It is:

  • sceptical by default
  • evidence-led
  • cautious about certainty
  • focused on clarity rather than speed
